Reading Responses – 30%
You are required to submit a minimum of five reading responses over the course of the semester. These responses should be type-written and must be turned in, by hand, at the end of the appropriate class session (sorry, no email accepted). Responses are limited to two, per student, per class. Thus, you should not wait till the end of the semester and attempt to hand me all five at once. Responses should be 1-2 pages in length and demonstrate that you have read the assigned material. You may summarize the main argument of an article, pose specific questions based on a reading, or write a few paragraphs linking or contrasting various ideas and concepts. You can even write a poem about one of the articles if you like. I just want to see that you are engaging with the material.

Take-Home Midterm – 30%
The take-home midterm will consist of 4-5 essay questions and require you to relate concepts from the readings and lectures to a selection of media texts. Each answer should be a minimum of 2 double-spaced pages in length.

Take-Home Final – 30%
The take-home final will be structured like the midterm and will be cumulative in nature.

Participation and Attendance – 10%
This should be self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
